LNG OPERATIONS AND MANAGEMENT MASTER CLASS
Intercontinental Buenos Aires, Argentina,
5 – 8 December 2011
Effective training in today’s fast-paced global LNG market is imminent with emerging dynamics and paradigm shifts seen in demand and supply. Therefore having a strong technical and operational team with extensive knowledge of the LNG value chain, both onshore and offshore is crucial. This course is designed for an intensive training in all operational elements of the upstream and downstream Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) business
Throughout the course, participants would have the opportunity to engage in highly interactive discussions and acquire critical operational processes and techniques. This will be achieved by examining the current trends and issues in the industry and by breaking down the whole value chain from end-to-end liquefaction processes to shipping and storage and from LNG import terminals to regasification. Practical key studies will also be presented and analyzed during the course of training and the importance of delivering value through LNG operations and management best practices will be highlighted.
This comprehensive and up-to-date course will be valuable both to those who already have experience in natural gas as well as to new comers to the operational and technical sector of the industry.
Key LNG Operational and Management that will be discussed in all major aspects of LNG Development – in short the LNG Value Chain (further details on modules can be seen in brochure – course outline)
The liquefied natural gas (LNG) value chain represents $7 to $14 billion dollars of investment from start to finish. It begins with natural gas extracted (*not discussed in this workshop) from underground reservoirs and is sent through a pipeline to a liquefaction facility.
At the liquefaction facility, impurities are removed from the gas, and it is sent through three cooling processes until it reaches a final temperature of minus 260 degrees Fahrenheit.
The chilled gas, now LNG, is then loaded onto specially designed tanker ships where it will be kept chilled for the duration of the voyage, which may last anywhere from four to thirty days, depending on the destination port.
Once the ship arrives at a regasification terminal, the LNG is offloaded into large storage tanks, built with full-containment walls and systems to keep the LNG cold until it is turned back into a gaseous state.
When the LNG has been warmed back to its natural state, the gas is moved into pipelines (*not discussed in this workshop) which will deliver the natural gas to consumers, power plants and industrial customers across the country.
Other subjects within the LNG context that will be discussed includes Offshore LNG (Floating LNG, Floating Storage & Regasification Units, Floating Storage Units), LNG import terminals, Health, Safety, Security and Environment.
Offshore LNG is a growing interest in the global arena especially to coop with the growing demand for power as well as a way to capitalize on stranded gas reserves. Under the context of Offshore LNG, the operational and management elements will be discussed within this 4-day programme (could also be your selling point). This is how a typical Floating LNG looks like:
Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) as well as safety is a growing concern for all LNG operators, therefore a coverage of this topic is pertinent (this could also be your selling point).
